Use of Chemical Stabilizers

Since there is no water present in most sugar scrub recipes there is no need for a preservative.

That being said it is wise to follow these directions for storage and usage to prevent the growth of mold or bacteria in your final product. Be sure to share this if you are gifting or selling your final products.

  • Do not store your scrub in the shower/tub area, this will prevent the scrub from getting water in it.
  • In addition you can use a spoon or spatula to remove the scrub from the jar, especially when hands are not dry during use.

*Reminder: honey is a natural antiseptic and antibacterial product and will inhibit the growth of undesired microbes in your final product also.
